Design Build

Beautiful Kitchen — Commercial Builders in State College, PA

Design/Build is a system of project delivery under which one entity performs both design and construction under a single contract. This process streamlines project delivery by transforming the relationship between designers and builders into an alliance that fosters collaboration and teamwork. Design/Build is an integrated project delivery method that can bring significant benefits to owners. Design/Build offers the greatest speed from concept to completion with the highest cost-effectiveness.

The advantages include improved communication between teams, an increased level of interdisciplinary fluency and transparency, and significantly better budget control. The owner can expect a fixed budget earlier in the design process, with far less risk of budget creep during the evolution of the design. By having a single source of responsibility for both design and construction, an owner can mitigate the risk of delays and claims that impact the cost and delivery of a project.

Design/Build can also be used for the delivery systems within a project. Certain building systems can be provided on a Design/Build basis within a conventional Design/Bid/Build or GMP scenario. The design and construction of the structure, exterior wall and the mechanical and electrical systems can be provided in this way, and VBR has experience with this type of delivery method on multiple projects.

Pre-Engineered Steel Buildings

Steel Ceiling — Commercial Builders in State College, PA

One of the newer concepts in commercial steel building construction is the pre-engineered metal building. Typically used for commercial, agricultural or industrial spaces, pre-engineered metal buildings are affordable and durable, and offer high versatility and practicality.

Pre-engineered means a complete steel-framed building system with components pre-designed to fit together in a variety of combinations to meet the custom requirements of specific end users. They are ideal for permanent installations above 400 square feet and are usually a simple design, easy to erect, and more lightweight than conventional steel structures. Pre-engineered steel buildings offer a cost-effective solution for fast, clear span floor space.

VBR has effectively completed multiple pre-engineered steel buildings with a true design-build delivery system. VBR provided a complete solution for the site, architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical designs.
